"Why? It's Our City, Our Time!" This is the theme of this year's Columbus Youth Commission Youth Summit, on October 15th (COTA Day - NO SCHOOL). This years' event will be the best ever! It is our biggest chance each year to see what issues are important to Columbus youth, so we can make solutions for the Mayor and City Council. Sound off in groups, get to know new people city-wide - plus enjoy free food and youth entertainers from around Columbus. Our past Youth Summits have brought hundreds of youth, and tons of excitement!
It's all free - and on a day off of school! If you're 13-21, this promises to be a great day!
The Summit will be held at the former JC Penney space of Westland Mall, from 8:30am until 3:00pm.
Along with the free food and entertainment are many ways for YOU to tell US what needs to happen in Columbus! There will be breakout sessions to ask yourself WHY there are so many negative things going on in the world, and then decide how we can fix them - starting right here, right now. Why? Because it's Our City, Our Time.
You'll also enjoy a debate of young people from all across Greater Columbus, regarding the Election of President, and the school levies across the various school districts. Then it's your turn to sound-off by using REAL polling machines and VOTING! Of course, it's a mock election, but results will be announced during the Youth Summit, so the city, state, and nation can see what young people think is the best solution.
For your participation in this action-packed, fun day, you'll also receive a free Youth Summit 2004 t-shirt, as our thank-you gift.
Discussion, Exercise, Voting, Debating, Eating, Enjoying Entertainment and MORE? WHY not sign up right now online??? Deadline is Friday, October 8th. THANKS FOR A GREAT SUMMIT! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR! |
